McMillen Jacobs Associates is proud to announce the formation of a Small Business Administration (SBA) approved Mentor-Protégé Agreement with Water Civil Environmental Inc (WCE), a Women-Owned, SBA 8(a)-certified firm. The SBA’s Mentor-Protégé Program is designed to help small businesses compete for federal contracts, improve technical and management skills, and enhance their capabilities through an effective mentoring relationship with a larger and more experienced consulting firm. McMillen Jacobs will provide management, technical and business development assistance to WCE to help them more effectively compete in the federal marketplace.
“We are thrilled to work with McMillen Jacobs under the Mentor-Protégé Program, which is an invaluable tool for the strategic growth of our company,” said Leslie Eldridge, President of WCE. “McMillen Jacobs Associates has been exactly where we are today, know what our challenges are, and have been supportive of WCE Inc. for years. With access to their expertise and resources, we will gain knowledge, operational experience, and support that will allow us to overcome the barriers to growth and stability we might otherwise encounter as a small business.”
The agreement brings together the resources of two complementary organizations with extensive civil engineering and environmental experience. McMillen Jacobs’ capabilities include multi-disciplines engineering services, regulatory and environmental permitting, and self-perform construction in the water resources, hydropower, fisheries, and heavy civil markets. Paired with WCE’s experience in water resources, civil and environmental engineering management services, the relationship creates a strong and well-versed consulting team.
McMillen Jacobs and WCE Inc. also have four years of teaming history on projects such as USFWS Design-Build Services for Alviso Pond A9, A10, All Levee Repair and A9 Water Control Structure Replacement at Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge and USFWS Design-Build Services for the Repair of Flood Damage at Kooskia National Fish Hatchery.
“As the Mentor-Protégé Program representative for McMillen Jacobs, I am excited to work with Leslie and the entire WCE team. We look forward to the opportunity to enhance the capabilities of WCE to assist them in meeting their goals over the next several years. With the alignment of our company philosophy, services, and markets I believe this partnership will be beneficial to both firms as well as the agency and clients we support” said Marissa Emmons, VP of Water Resources/Business Development Director.
