McMillen Jacobs’s approach to alternative project delivery methods is founded on the belief that a truly integrated team requires both the design and construction to be provided within one organization. In developing our in-house construction team, we focused first on strengthening our design capabilities. We maintain multi-discipline engineering services including, structural, mechanical, civil, transportation, hydraulic, electrical, geotechnical, fisheries, aquaculture, regulatory, and natural resources. We supplement our in-house staff with specialty small firms with the same business philosophy of providing high quality responsive service to our clients. On the construction side, we have developed our construction division with construction managers and professionals with hands on experience in the construction industry. Upon building this foundation we have now taken our model one step further in that we self-execute a large percentage of our projects. This requires full field superintendents, foreman, equipment operators, concrete crews, and laborers. McMillen Jacobs maintains complete concrete, excavation, and underground utility crews capable of performing 60 to 80 percent of the work effort associated with our design-build projects. Our self-executing model allows us to control the project schedule exerting an even firmer control of the project budgets.
If you were to visit our construction division office location you would see we have organized our office assignments to place construction personnel right next to design engineers. This ensures relationship building on personnel and professional levels, as well as formation of a strong understanding of the roles and responsibilities each professional faces in their day-to-day work effort. We believe our model ensures our clients see a seamless organization providing highly efficient and best value execution of alternative project delivery methods.
