McMillen Jacobs was retained by Idaho Power Company to complete the design and provide full construction management services (on-site inspection and office engineering support) for a new hatchery and facilities upgrade. The project included planning and designing of a new UV disinfection system to provide pathogen free spring water for incubation and early rearing of approximately 2.5 million steelhead eggs and fry, along with new office and administration area space. Major project elements include the design of a new intake, filtration and disinfection system to supply 18 cfs of pathogen free water for incubation and early rearing, a new approximately 18,000 sq ft hatchery building, modifications to the existing outdoor concrete raceways, the design of two new traveling bridges, and screening of the main hatchery intake and outfalls. A new shop building along with renovations to various features of the existing hatchery will be required with all work activities planned and constructed while maintaining the existing hatchery in production.
