John Kaplin is the California Regional Vice President and a Principal Construction Manager. He has 32 years of experience in the planning, design, construction, and construction management of a variety of heavy civil projects. This includes serving in roles ranging from project manager to construction manager on underground projects for water, wastewater, and transportation. Prior to joining McMillen Jacobs in 2013, John held leadership positions on an 18-mile water supply tunnel in rock near Boston, a CSO tunnel program in Providence, RI, and was the Water Market Director for one of the nation’s leading construction management firms. He directed McMillen Jacobs’ Construction Management program nationally until 2016. As Regional Manager he is responsible for generating new work, client relations, and project oversight, in addition to remaining active technically on underground projects. He holds a BS in Geology and a MS in Engineering Geology from Colorado State University, is a Certified Construction Manager (CCM), and a Professional Geologist (PG) and Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG) in California. John also serves on McMillen Jacobs Associates Inc. Board of Directors.
