Mark Havekost is the Northwest Region Manager and a Principal Engineer in our Underground and Tunneling Division. With 23 years of experience in the underground industry concentrating on tunnel design and geotechnical engineering, he has participated in the design, construction, or evaluation of numerous tunnel projects, including hydropower, wastewater, water supply, and highway tunnels. He has a strong background in the geotechnical aspects of soft ground and rock tunnels, geotechnical investigations, ground characterization, tunnel excavation and support methods, tunnel design, and ground improvement. Mark is a recognized expert in trenchless construction methods, has served as Engineer of Record on several horizontal directional drilling pipelines including several for Tualatin Valley Water District. Mark earned his BS in Civil Engineering from California Polytechnic Institute, and a MS in Geotechnical Engineering from University of California, Berkeley.
